From the Secondary Principal’s Desk
Preparing students for a successful university life requires much more than just preparing them for academic rigor. An area that separates BAIS from other international schools is the intentional, proactive, and comprehensive plan all graduates complete that increases their likelihood of not only academic success but also thriving through the cultural transition from high school in Indonesia to universities around the world.
Students at BAIS begin preparing in earnest for university in grade eleven when they enroll in a one-semester course called Career Education. Course goals include personal reflection and self-exploration, career discovery, identification of likely safety, reach, and dream universities, and life-skills.
Career Ed. students this week took some cooking lessons in order to better prepare them for independence and dorm success at university. They practiced making grilled-cheese sandwiches, hummus, sliced vegetables, noodle dishes, and various salads.
BAIS is proud of its holistic approach in educating our students. Thank you to Ms. Hall and Ms. Dickman for preparing this exciting and tasty learning experience for our students. The hummus was delicious!

WWDWWD – Why We Do What We Do
Marketing Events
New this school year, BAIS has participated in two marketing events at PVJ in an effort to get the name of BAIS out in Bandung again. Why is BAIS starting a new marketing initiative? There are two reasons for this:
- Based on several conversations with current BAIS parents who have spoken with their peers or colleagues, it seems that a large percentage
of families who are in the demographic we seek are unaware of BAIS located in Kota Baru. It seems that after 11 years of moving from
Ciumbuleuit the general awareness of the existence of BAIS has decreased significantly. - As mentioned in earlier Dialogue with the Director meetings, BAIS has lowered the price point for tuition and introduced many discounts. This is making BAIS an option for a greater number of people. Our marketing efforts are looking to make this information known to a broader audience.
BAIS is looking to do more in the area of advertising and marketing. If you own a business and would be willing to have BAIS marketing materials available for your customers, please let us know!
