From the School Chaplain
Dear parents,
SEW is an amazing time at BAIS where a few days are set aside every school year to focus on the spiritual development of our students. Our hope is that students always feel encouraged in their classes and chapel times but SEW is different. What makes SEW different? I believe what makes SEW different is that it is a sanctified time that is dedicated to the purpose of spiritual renewal and building our students up in the faith.
The biblical word sanctify means to set apart for a holy purpose. BAIS believes that investing in our students spiritual well being is so important that we are willing to set aside time in the busy school year for this purpose. Every year we see the benefits of this time as students’ hearts are encouraged and transformed through SEW.
SEW is normally scheduled for the month of November but because of the ongoing challenges that do not allow us to know with certainty whether we will be on campus in November we have decided to postpone SEW. Because this is such a special time at BAIS we want to be able to do it in a time when we can have maximum impact. Our hope is that we will be able to have a joint SEW and WWW in the month of March. The scheduled SEW days of November 23-25 will now be normal school day meets and classes.
We appreciate the continued opportunity to invest in your students and look forward to all that this year holds for them academically and spiritually.

I Love to Read
This year’s I Love to Read Month is going to be on Oct. 26!
Of course thanks to our current situation, this year’s event is going to be different, but still fun nonetheless. Stay tuned for more info about all the fun activities we are going to have for this year’s I Love to Read Month. One thing that I can say for sure is, we are going to read A LOT.

Battle of the Books
Hey Secondary Readers!
Even though we cannot meet in person for now, we will still have a Battle of the Books team and competition this year! If we cannot have an ‘in-person’ Battle in January, we will do it over Zoom instead. Battle of the Books is a fun book-trivia competition done in groups of 3-6, based on the list of books below. Participants are not expected to read all 10 books.
If you are interested in participating in Battle of the Books, please email Ms.Ribbens at ClarissaRibbens@baisedu.org and start reading any of these books!
