From the Director’s Desk

Welcome to the last day of school for the 2018-2019 school year!

While the month of May is always extra busy, it is also a wonderful time of celebration and remembrance of the past school year. This month we celebrated graduations, awards, performances, and achievements. We also were sad to say goodbyes to the seniors, to students and families moving away from Bandung, and also to departing staff.

During this time we can’t help but look forward to next school year as well. Next year is full of promise with a projected 12-15% enrollment increase, new marketing initiatives, and the creation of a campus development committee to look at the next stages of our campus. We have also been presented with new challenges for next year such as working around the large construction projects near our campus, creatively filling key jobs with administration roles yet to be filled, and continuing to navigate through increased government regulations.

In light of next year’s promise and challenges, I am so thankful that the theme for 2019-2020 will be Awaken the Wonder with Psalm 65:4-8 as our key passage. This theme will remind us that we serve a God who willed mountains into existence and calms roaring waves with a word. Meditating on these truths provides a comforting perspective on the joys and challenges that we face individually and as a community. The joy comes as we walk, one step at a time, in His Word. Let’s look forward together to all that the Lord has for us as a community next year.

Blessings to all of you over this extended break! I pray you are refreshed and encouraged by time with your family and friends.

Mr. Karl Nielsen
BAIS Director

Clinic News

Dear parents,

Last week I distributed the annual health record update form to all students, along with a note to parents whose students need updated immunizations for the next school year.

I will need the annual health record and updated proof they have been vaccinated before the first day of school, Monday, August 19, 2019 or they will not be able to attend school on August 20. You may e-mail questions to maykerosalina@baisedu.org or come to the BAIS Clinic.

For proof, please get a receipt and/or note from the doctor including the vaccination name, dosage, and date.

PROTECT YOURSELF – PROTECT OTHERS – GET IMMUNIZED!

Announcement from the English Department

Dear Secondary Students and Parents:

Your English teachers know that each and everyone one of you wants a good grade in your English class. Here’s a simple, easy activity that you can do over the summer to help you get that good grade.

Prereading a book before you study it provides you with foundational knowledge from which to build understanding. For most classes, summer reading is optional, but students who preread books before studying the work understand the work better and perform better on assessments. So, don’t miss out on this opportunity. Come pick up your assigned reading from your English teacher before you go on summer vacation.
