From the Secondary Principal

Is BAIS an excellent school?

It’s an important question and one way to answer it, at least related to academics, is by comparing our MAP scores with other schools with similar characteristics and rigor. EARCOS stands for the East Asia Regional Council of Schools and it is usually regarded as the most esteemed professional group of schools in Asia. There are about 200 member schools and BAIS is a member as well. Many SPK schools in Indonesia use MAP, including Bandung Independent School (BIS). If the question is being answered related only to measuring academic achievement using those tests in Reading, Language Usage, and Math, I would argue the answer to the question is a resounding “Yes!

Keep in mind that the data below represents grade level averages and that classes with few students are more highly influenced by individual scores. If one student does poorly, it often drastically skews the overall data – especially the class average.

Please see from this particular data that BAIS is an excellent school! This data does not even refer to the ways our teachers go the extra kilometer to provide care, discipleship, and mentoring for our students. Nor does it address the outstanding after-school activities program or the school facilities. Spread the word. It’s official. BAIS is excellent!

Sincerely,

Jeremy J. Thomas, MS. Ed.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO – ALC/JOB EXPO

Every year the BAIS Director joins all the other NICS Directors from across the world for a conference at the NICS home office just outside of Memphis, TN. This conference is great professional development for the directors and also a time of refreshment as we always enjoy each other’s company. Another very important aspect to this trip is the Job Expo that has both live and streamed audiences. The online digital portion of the expo has specifically been emphasized for this year. This expo gives each school the opportunity to present to scores of potential teachers the benefits of teaching overseas and at one of our Network schools. The past two years, we have filled key positions as a direct result of this expo. Please pray we are able to find outstanding people to fill our open spots.
