From the Elementary Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

Happy Chinese New Year. As many of you may be aware, I am back in the office after 3 months maternity leave. I want to say thank you for all the cards, gifts, visits, and words of encouragement while I was gone. Baby Cahyani, Manatap, and I have been truly blessed by our BAIS family.

Now that I am back, I am working hard to catch up on some of the things I missed 2nd quarter. One of the major areas of focus is curriculum. This year we are evaluating our ELD program and our English classes. During the month of February a survey will be going out to ask for feedback on the strengths and areas of improvement needed for the English program. Please be on the look out for that email. We would welcome all of your feedback.

In addition to the English review, we are also in the process of making major decisions regarding the math program at BAIS. We are currently looking at things like math course offerings, textbooks and materials, as well as philosophy and procedures. We plan of explaining the new
changes to the math program once the committee is finished later this school year.

Outside of the curriculum review process, no major things are on the horizon for the elementary. We do have 1 need though that I would like to remind people of. Starting in March, our 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Julian, will be going on maternity leave. We are still looking for a long term substitute that can help teach the 4th grade at least part of day during 4th quarter. If you or someone you know is able to help us with this need, please talk with one of the administrators. We welcome any help with this need.

Those are all the announcements from the desk of the elementary principal. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sianturi
