From the Secondary Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

In Revelation 7:9-10 there is a description of what heaven will be like, “9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” (New International Version)

Working at BAIS and being in the community, we are privileged to get a small, sweet taste of what heaven will be like. We are surrounded with people from various parts of the world, who speak different languages, and we get to praise and honor the Lord in all that we do. I can think of no better example of this when the entire school, Pre-K3 – 12th grade was worshipping together during Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) at the Sports Hall. We were a multitude standing before God worshipping Him. I was also reminded of this yesterday during Secondary Chapel when Mr. Newell reminded us that we are community of sufferers, and if we embrace that, we will be even more equipped to love and support each other and be freer from the root sins that cause us to stumble. This message from the Holy Spirit, if embraced, will push our community to continually grow as one church for the Glory of God.

As part of the possibility of continued growth in our Lord, the secondary teachers have worked together over the first semester to create a vision statement that will be a guiding focus for us as we improve professionally.

firmly rooted, joyful, growing together

After spending some time working together to pinpoint BAIS strengths and characteristics, we were able to determine that those three characteristics will lead to a “win” as we complete each school year.

  1. Firmly rooted – Our beliefs and actions are justified through Scripture. We demonstrate a mature faith and seek forgiveness when we fall short.
  2. Joyful – We stand firm knowing our foundation is through Christ who saves. Our future is stable. Even during frustrating and stressful times which, we demonstrate joy knowing God is with us, for us, and because of that, “Who can be against us!”
  3. Growing together – No matter how amazing a lesson, assessment, event, or activity was, our mindset is continued improvement. A guiding question often asked is, “How can we make it better?”

We are a community of conquerors! Through our relationship with Christ, we have the privilege of enjoying a taste of heaven through worshipping Him – not only during specific praise and worship times but even during the smallest daily tasks that come our way. Through it all, we are strong, and if, as a community, we can be firmly rooted, joyful, and growing together, I’m sure the Lord will continue to bless our amazing community!

Together in Him,
Mr. Jeremy Thomas
Secondary Principal
