From the School Counselor’s Desk

Dear Parents,

As we look to close out 3rd quarter, we enter a very exciting time at BAIS. Week Without Walls has always been a favorite activity of mine here at BAIS. It has been a way for students to put their faith into action differently than during normal school days. It is also an opportunity for them to learn how to be servant-leaders and how to share their faith by their actions and attitudes – not just their words. Week Without Walls is an entire week that academic classes are placed on hold and students team up across the grades to go and impact our local communities for Christ. Some of the service projects in the past have been to team up with local ministries. We have had teams work on water filtration system teams, Habitat for Humanity teams, feeding the poor and homeless, supporting the work in local orphanages, bringing joy to homes for the elderly, bringing joy and hope to women at the women’s prison, etc.

It is such a joy to see our high school students, middle school students, and elementary students working together for others. It is a good reminder that we are all called to be missionaries. Some of us travel far away to do this and some of us are missionaries in our local businesses. Regardless of the geographical location that God has called us to – we are all called.

So I encourage you to ask your children this weekend about some of the Week Without Walls opportunities they are interested in this year. If you have never heard their stories from previous years, I encourage you to ask them about how they have served in the past. It will truly bless you to hear how your child is applying what they have learned to serve others around them. Our prayer as a school is that this creates a desire for them to serve as they become adults. To know that children are learning to serve at an early age gives us hope and joy for the future world in which they will be leaders.

Can I ask you, as our parent community, to pray for our students during this week? Pray that hearts will be touched, needs will be met, and Christ will be reflected to others. It is always a blessing to connect with students during this week differently as teachers – will you also pray for our staff as we go out with them?

WWW Donation

Parents,

A WWW group will visit the S.O.S Orphanage in Lembang. All 4th graders and about 15 secondary students will visit the orphanage on Wednesday, March 15th, 2016 and on Thursday, March 16th 2016. They will donate used clothes and used books to the orphanage children. The recipients of these items are the orphan kids that range in age from infant all the way to 18 years old.

If you would like to be involved in the project, please drop the items to Ibu Srie in the front office. Please make sure that the items are in good condition. Thank you for considering this, I know the orphan kids will appreciate all the help that they can get
