Elementary Teachers

My family and I have been at BAIS for almost 5 years. I came as a homemaker, but now fill in where needed each year. This year I am the Kindergarten teacher. We are truly blessed to be a part of this community and country during this season of our lives!

1st Grade

It is a blessing to be able to serve BAIS as the first grade teacher. I feel so full from the joy that students bring into our classroom each day. I am thankful for how each one of you is uniquely part of our BAIS family.

Been with BAIS since 2015.

2nd Grade

I’ve had the privilege of teaching at BAIS for the past 7 years! I taught six years in Grade 4 and am currently the Grade 2 teacher. I love watching students explore new ideas and encourage them as they try new things. BAIS is a great school to have your child develop academically, socially, and spiritually!

4th Grade

After growing up in Quito, Ecuador with teacher parents, teaching internationally was in my blood. My husband and I got married the summer we graduated from college, packed our bags, and moved to Dakar, Senegal to start our international teaching journey. That journey has now landed us here at BAIS. This is my 6th year teaching, and I love it more everyday. Teaching is my passion and my joy and I am thankful to work at a place that helps me continue to feel that way!

Been with BAIS since 2015.

5th Grade

5 years… I can’t believe it either! I have been at BAIS since 2011. I came here and served 4 years as the Kindergarten teacher. Let me just say that it was one of the most rewarding and challenging things I have ever done. I still believe that it is a MIRACLE from God that kids learn how to read.
Now I teach 5th grade. It has been a challenging transition but I wouldn’t trade it. It is such a joy to have real and deep conversations with these kids about Jesus. I love pouring into them and encouraging them to become the young people I know God wants them to become.
BAIS has high standards of excellence and it is a joy to help the kids reach for those.
It my off time (rare as it may be 🙂 ) I love to play games, read, puzzle, cook and go on crazy adventures.

Chaplain & Bible

Been with BAIS since 2010

My wife and I were open to God’s call anywhere in the world. We knew that He was going to call us to a Spanish or Russian speaking country where our existing language skills could be used. Again, God had the last laugh!

We consider ourselves blessed to serve the children of the Most High God in Indonesia and at BAIS. Our four children have been blessed to call BAIS their school and we have been equally blessed by the staff and students here. I believe that God has blessed me with a desire to love teenagers and youth and placed me in the perfect environment to glorify Him through that ministry!

English Language Development

I am from North Carolina and have lived in several parts of the state. I went to college at North Greenville University in South Carolina where I was challenged to develop a Biblical worldview by some awesome, godly professors. I got my master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Western Carolina University. I love to travel and have briefly lived in Korea and Ukraine before coming to BAIS. I enjoy hiking and camping, reading, weird music, and rich discussions about all kinds of things.

Been with BAIS since 2012

HS History

I am currently the AP World History, AP US History, 9th Grade History, Economics, and American Government teacher. I am passionate about authentic learning, engaging students in historical thinking, and coaching soccer. I’ve been blessed and able to live all over the world including the Republic of Congo, Senegal, the United States, and now Indonesia.

Currently, I have been working at BAIS since 2015.

I came to BAIS in 2014. It’s a blessing and a privilege to teach our students, and I am grateful to be here.

MS Science

I have been teaching at BAIS since 2007. I am a MS science and math teacher but I have taught many other subjects. I also play the role of Korean Liaison to the Korean parents and students. I have 3 children who have gone through BAIS since Kindergarten. My last one is in 10th grade.

Specials/Elective Teachers

Supervisor - Indonesian Language Program

I grew up in Texas, married an Australian, and have lived in Indonesia since 2000. If that doesn’t give me a varied experience, I don’t know what would!

I work for IEP (Interkultural Edukasi Partner), which has an agreement with BAIS to provide the school’s Indonesian Language Program. I supervise the 5 Indonesian teachers and have been involved in the partnership with BAIS since it began in 2014. Even before that, I supervised and coordinated the Extended Day Indonesian Culture and Language Classes offered by IEP at BAIS from 2011.

Throughout God’s Word, we’re given examples of people who adapted to the host community when they found themselves in a new place (Abraham and Paul just to name two). My desire is to help provide an opportunity for the students and expat staff of BAIS to feel comfortable and communicate naturally in their Indonesian surroundings.

Ibu AnyMy name is Any Jeane Toisuta. People call me Any. I was born on January 17, 1993 in Bandung. I am the second child of three. My father is from Ambon and my mother is from Java. My hobbies are singing, dancing, and travelling. I finished my bachelors degree in German at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). Even though I graduated with a German language for education major, I like English because English is easier to learn than German and English is one of the international languages. I teach Bahasa Indonesia at BAIS because I want to serve wholeheartedly and share knowledge that I have to others.

Athletics Director

BAIS welcomed me this August 2016 after transitioning from Miami, Florida. However, I was born and raised in la Republica Dominicana — a tropical and beautiful Caribbean island where baseball, merengue, and mangu reign! I hold a bachelors degree in exercise and sports science from Florida International University. After eight years of teaching in Miami’s public schools, I am blessed to belong in a Christ-centered community of like-minded educators and look forward to engaging with parents and students as the year progresses.

Please stop by the athletics office and say hello!

Alynthia PennGod led me to take a leap of faith halfway around the world after 6 years of teaching elementary school in the United States. BAIS is an answer to prayer as I have an opportunity to combine my passion for teaching, travel, integrating technology into education, and lifelong learning. Being here is a huge blessing!

I hope to teach with excellence so that my students feel the same way.

Jack of All Trades

I moved to Bandung to work for BAIS in 2009. I love watching students get excited about the world around them and I believe photography is a great way to see the world.

“I think I started working at BAIS in 2012.
God is great, BAIS is good, and I love cats.”

I started working at BAIS in 2012. Before that I was working at our sister school in China, Kunming International Academy. Moving to Indonesia is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am grateful that God brought me here.

School Counselor

My family of six moved here in 2010. Since then we have had two children graduate and go back to America for college – and they still call this home. This community, these people – they are our home. It is an honor and privilege to partner with the parents here to counsel, pray for, and love these students. Our school excels academically and is spiritually thriving. Our graduates leave with a strong foundation to help give them a good start to the next chapters in their lives. I am so grateful that I get to play a small part in their journey!

I teach a College and Career Class, Worldview & Apologetics, and I am the school counselor for PK3-12th grade assisting with all social/emotional, college/career, and academic support needs.
